JO PERFORMS WITH STANLEY JORDAN
(Written Description Below)
In the summer of 2003 at the Knowlton Riverfest in New Jersey, Jo Sallins had a chance to trade some tasty licks with Guitarist and Jazz Great “Stanley Jordan!”
While performing with Tony Vacca’s “World Rythyms Ensemble,” Jo played his Spector Natural Wood 50/50 Slam Bass and laid down a funky groove for Stanley to solo over. During Stanley’s solo Jo contemplated, “Should I jump to my piccolo strings and invite Stanley to a little musical ‘conversation’?” Being the risk taker and performer he is – suddenly Jo did just that!
Watch close as Stanley looks up surprised as if he was not expecting to hear the high notes coming from what seemd to be an ordinary 5 String Bass. After a nasty exchange, the two brought their imrov to a rousing close witha barrage of Runs, Slaps, and Taps, bringing the 800 or so in attendance to their feet, along with a roar of approval.
A historical moment for all!
